A magnificent example of mid-19th century French jewellery, this 18ct gold cuff bracelet features a symbolic pansy motif — a flower traditionally associated with remembrance and enduring affection. Weighing 46.38g, it bears two French eagle head hallmarks and a left-facing rhinoceros head stamp, all exceptionally crisp and clearly struck, confirming its French origin and full 18ct gold composition across every element, including the flexible bracelet mechanisms.

The 32mm circular centrepiece presents a finely crafted pansy design. Two polished cabochon amethysts with rare faceted pavillions form the upper petals, while a smaller round cabochon amethyst sits at the centre. The three lower petals glisten with 27 natural rose-cut diamonds, each hand-set and the petals outline framed with fine black enamel inlay — enhancing contrast and seamlessly integrating with the deep violet amethysts.

The bracelet’s 6.56-inch inner circumference is composed of six segments — four flexible and two fixed sections flanking the central motif — measuring 20mm wide and 2mm thick. Its five secure hinges, including the clasp mechanism, allow for a generous 3.5-inch opening, ensuring the bracelet slides onto the wrist with ease. The vibrant yellow gold retains its rich, lustrous tone, with only two discreet nicks beneath the clasp — purely cosmetic and without impact on the bracelet’s function or structural integrity.

A true collector’s piece, this antique French cuff bracelet unites sentimental symbolism with rare gemstone artistry — ideal for connoisseurs of 19th-century jewellery or those seeking a wearable heirloom of historical significance.
