This distinctive necklace combines the richness of an 18ct gold foxtail chain, converted from an antique long guard, with a floral sliding pendant set with approximately 1.80ct of antique-cut diamonds.
Nine diamonds form the orchid motif: a central pear-shaped old cut with a high table and a distinct keyhole-shaped open culet, a hallmark of hand-cut 19th-century gems, adding depth and individuality. This pear-cut diamond boasts a subtle champagne undertone visible only at certain angles, possibly due to fluorescence, internal reflections from the warm gold setting, or a faint natural tint. It is complemented by three old mine cut diamonds (0.50ct and two at 0.25ct) and six rose cuts, which accentuate each petal with fine shimmer.
All diamonds are bright and sparkle magnificently, enhancing the intricate floral design.
The 18.5-inch foxtail chain, 1.5mm wide but appearing fuller due to its dimensional weave, closes with a contemporary 18ct gold bolt ring clasp stamped "750". Pendant size: 14.5 x 13.5mm.
A rare and wearable piece marrying historical detail with contemporary refinement.
