A charming late-Victorian dragonfly pendant crafted with a silver and gold body set with old-cut gemstones.
Repurposed from an antique 15ct gold brooch, the original pin now forms the pendant’s bail. The dragonfly’s wings shimmer with four old-cut diamonds — one set at the centre of each wing and flanked by a rose cut on either side, totalling eight rose-cut diamonds. Ruby eyes and a central old-cut ruby form the head, while the gracefully curved tail glows with nine vibrant old-cut emeralds set in gold testing at approximately 15ct.
Some stones show minor nibbles to the edges, as expected with a piece of this age, though these are not visible to the naked eye and do not detract from its beauty.
Measuring 26mm from wingtip to tail and 18.5mm across the wingspan, this miniature work of art captures the naturalistic design so admired in the Victorian era.
